Andy Peters
Born in Memphis, TN in the December of 1982, Andy’s family moved
to Jacksonville when he was five and remained here since. In high school
he developed an interest in art. However, at the time, it was eclipsed
by an interest in computers. His mother, in an attempt to unglue him from
the screen enrolled Andy in Jacksonville University’s Glassblowing
class for High School Students. As a pyromaniac he was pleased with the
experience, and from that point on, the artist took control. After two
years of high school glass classes, he enrolled at J.U. as an undergraduate,
art scholarship in hand. While art isn’t his major, art has been
part of his collegiate career, taking at least one studio art class every
semester since freshman year. He now teaches the same high school glass
class that brought him to J.U. During the last three years he has spent
summers vacation in a small shop in Pennsylvania working on historical
glass reproductions. His personal work, characterized by unusual forms
and exciting colors is in many private collections. He will graduate from
JU this December with a degree in Computer Information Systems, and minors
in chemistry, and studio art.
