ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE
All students intending to major in Computer Art & Design, Art or Glass must meet the Jacksonville University requirements for admissions and must complete an official application with the University's Admissions Office.Additionally, students applying for admission into the BFA degree in Computer Art & Design, the BFA degree in Art or the BFA degree in Glass must gain admission into the chosen degree program through the submission of an art portfolio.
PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS:
Your portfolio should consist of 10 to 20 examples of recently completed artwork, which reflects your interests, experience, and abilities.Two Options for portfolio submission:
1. Contact the Admission Office of the University to arrange an on-campus interview with the Department of Visual Arts. Bring your actual art works as originally completed for review, 2-dimensional works arranged in your portfolio and 3-dimensional works as can be easily transported.
2. Mail your work directly to the Department of Visual Arts.
Your portfolio must be reproduced (DO NOT SEND ORIGINALS) and submitted as either 35 mm slides or as unmounted photographic prints at a uniform size of 8" x 10". Label the slide or print of each piece with your name and a number. On a separate piece of paper, provide a typed listing indicating the corresponding number, title, medium, size, and date of completion for each work. Slides should be arranged in a plastic slide-holder page. Prints should be inserted in plastic sleeves and bound in a 3-ring binder. Any time-based work or performance pieces may be submitted in 1/2 inch VHS video format or DVD format. Intended Computer Art & Design majors may submit digital artwork. You should, however, contact in advance Area Coordinator of the Computer Art & Design program to discuss possible compatible formats.
PORTFOLIO DEADLINES:
February 1 for Admission, Placement, and Scholarship consideration.Portfolios may be submitted through August 1 for admission and placement consideration only (subject to availability).
